‘Peter’
Well, the Planet Loco ‘Peter’ is coming along fine with thanks to Lee Johnson who is spending his spare time to paint the loco, and is looking splendid in deed! The body work is due to be put together soon, then it will be down to installing the electrics and breaking System.
Springfield School Event
The event went extremely well, and we had a very busy day as every train was full!! We did experience a couple of traction problems due to wheel slipping due to the wet track, which was caused by the adults wanting to ride the train!!! the rain did come briefly but nothing to worry about.
We put an additional Donations box at the exit end of Crewe Old Works Station so we have 2 Donation Boxes on that station now, and it paid off as the Donations for the day where quiet healthy, a huge thank you to all those who donated.
Hanging Baskets
We have now got 3 hanging baskets at Crewe Old Works Station, and one at Midge Bridge Station, they have now added colour to the stations and look wonderful in bloom, the baskets where kindly donated by John and Gloria Kettle who are members of the ‘Friends of Crewe Heritage Centre’, a thank you goes to them for the kind and wonderful donation.
Forge End Station
A couple of weeks ago grass seed was planted at Forge End Station, and with thanks to the British Weather, the grass has quickly grown and is now due its first cut…any volunteers?
Volunteers
We are still seeking volunteers who are willing to come down to the centre as Miniature Railway volunteers, the roles are guards drivers and station masters.

We had a very good turn out on the January event with the Cheshire Model
Railway Club, we got to a point where passengers where queuing up to ride
on the train.
The Easter opening weekend was quiet, but we guess that was down to the
cold weather!
We are still looking for volunteers to help out running the trains
especially on event days.
The Coaching stock has been painted in ‘Intercity’ Livery to match the
Hymek wich is now in Blue livery.
We now have electric signals at Crewe Old Works Station, and where scratch
built by one of our volunteers Mike Bloore, so a job well done!
New Electric Signals! We have now started to install electric new colour electric signals at Crewe Old Works Station, and will be fully operational ready for us opening for the season. Coaches The coaches have now had a coat of paint in ‘Intercity’ Livery, to go with the BR Blue ‘Hymek’ Loco. Happy New Year!!
Welcome every one to what will hopefully be a busy and exiting year at the Crewe Heritage Centre Miniature Railway.
We have now given ‘Norcliffe’ a new coat of paint, she is now in ‘BR Blue’, and ‘Vulcan’ has now received a new set of batteries.
On Sunday 27th Jan we had our first event of the year, the ‘South Cheshire Model Railway Show’. This was a very busy day with plenty of visitors, unfortunately we did experience some teething problems, ‘Norcliffe’ had a fault on the alternator belt, so was out of action during the repair, and in its place ‘Vulcan’ had to do all the work!
By mid afternoon, ‘Norcliffe’ was back up and running, which meant ‘Vulcan’ was able to have a rest to recharge her batteries.
We also opened our Mini Shop on Crewe Old Works Station, this was the first time we had the shop open, and was successful, selling second hand items, and some new items.
We are still looking for anyone who would like to volunteer, and more so, we will be happy to cater for any one who wishes to bring their engine down for a run!!
